Taylor’s Asaban Fest

I don’t usually photograph Vocaloid… in fact, I don’t. But with TAF being the LAST event I will be attending before returning to UK and the fact that Calvin does really good cosplay, I figured, why the heck not?

The event itself wasn’t anything special. A waste of RM10. Though I heard the bands were good, I wasn’t around long enough to enjoy them seeing as I had to return early to prepare for another occasion the same night.

Olympus E-620

Drove down to Ayer Keroh today to pickup my new toy.

A forumer on the Mychiaroscuro.Net Olympus users forum was offering his E-620 for sale. I made an offer which he took and now I have a new E-620 that’s only 4 months old, a HLD-5 battery grip, one BLS-1 battery, a Sandisk 4GB CF card and a new camera bag.

Many thanks to Syed Shirazi.

Well worth the 3 hours I spent travelling to pick it up.

GAMP 2010 @ IMU, Bukit Jalil

GAMP 2010 was held today at the International Medical University campus in Bukit Jalil.

Sean, Dai, Edo, Solomon and myself arrived at 9.15am in the morning, the farside of being three-quarters of an hour early only to find that the place was literally empty. Just us five and the odd GAMP/Nihon no Sekai committee member running around. DESU arrived a few minutes ahead of us and were busy conducting sound checks and equipment checks in the hall.

Fast forward by two hours and signs were still not too encouraging. However, the crowd started to pick up pace around 1pm. However, at no time was the Chancellor’s Hall ever full or even approaching uncomfortable capacity except for the cosplay competitions. DESU also lost the crowd after it had trouble with some of the equipment they were using. However, the second time they came on, things ran rather smoothly.

Overall, a not very smooth start and somewhat fizzled out ending. GAMP 2010 didn’t end with a bang but with a whimper. Several areas could be improved on, from security to timetable scheduling and backup plans. But overall, once again, it’s a convenient place to meet up with friends and have a good time on your own.

A midnight shoot

Did this about 2-3 hours earlier. Sean and I were bored at home and decided to take his Toyota Supra down to Putrajaya for a drive. We then did an impromptu photoshoot with his car.

All shots taken with a Panasonic Lumix GF1 and the 20mm f1.7.

Perth 2010

I was in Perth as recently as last week for the whole week with my dad and sister. As most of you on my Facebook would know, the whole point of the exercise was to settle my sister in at Murdoch and hopefully leave some time for my dad and I to travel around and see some of the sights.

We paid a visit to Swan Valley, known for its vineyards and wine and also to the port city of Fremantle where we visited the Maritime Museum which was located at the harbour mouth.  I also managed to spend some time with a really good friend, Jonathan ‘Dei’ Goon who’s been in Perth since February and is part of a circle of friends who left to further their education overseas since last year.

The Blue Boat House. Abandoned but considered a landmark on the opposite bank of Swan River
