Moving house

It’s that time of year again, when you pack all your personal belongings down to the smallest scrap, decide what stays, what goes and shift everything to a new place.

Pics of the new home to come when I get to use my camera at the new house.

Will also be receiving my new lens so that’s a bonus =D

London MCM Expo May 2011

Leanne as Makinami Mari from Evangelion 2.22 - You Can(Not) Advance

Been rather busy since I got back so I haven’t had the time to sit down and write something about Expo. Also because I’ve been putting it off. Call it a lack of enthusiasm and inspiration.

As most would’ve seen from my Flickr pages, I’ve made a trip down to London approximately a month after my initial visit  over Easter. As usual, I travelled alone, the train journey of which I shalt not bore you with.

Cue the first day of Expo and I meet up with Jamie(Zom), Mollins and Banks to name a few of the Britfags that I met last year during October’s Expo in 2010. Met a few new ones at the end of the first day, chief amongst which being MORE seagulls from 4chan’s /cgl/. Also included; drama-fag. Who also stalks. Go figure.

I actually like the way most of my photos turned out this time. Met some photographers there and I picked up some ideas off one. Thanks Chi, I owe you one for putting that into my head!

Day Two was pretty much the same. Got a few more shots done without fuss.

London’s weather wasn’t all that great, very cloudy on the first day and bursts of sun and cloudiness on the second. Both days were equally windy and I had trouble framing my shots as the wind was so strong it was blowing my camera around.

Portraiture

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

With the arrival of my new 50mm f2.0 next month I’m hoping to get down to portraiture proper. Shooting with the 15-54mm f/2.8-3.5 is no biggie but sometimes when you just want that extra ‘bokeh’ to isolate the background or when you’re dealing with low-light enviroments… the f/2 is what you need.

So again, a further update, this time with more potraiture style stuff. I’m in no way a competent landscape photographer or macro photographer. Portraiture is about the only thing I seem to get right, even though some may seem snappish at times. But then again, I don’t shoot models so friends and family tend to be the subjects of choice.

Slow update is slow

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Haven’t really been inspired to update anything of late. Been busy with university assignments and work, though I’m now on my Easter break it doesn’t really feel like one.

York & London(paid a visit to Frinton and Walton, which are seaside towns) were my places of visit this year.

Without any further ado, some photos of Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-Naze.

Lackadaisical

1300442265860

It’s been a good long while since my last post. I haven’t had the inspiration to post much to be honest. Everything I want to seems to come up to a roadblock with a fork in the road. I’m not truly settled where I am nor can I do the things I would really love to do either. I think it’s because of the difficulty in being in what I consider a transitional period. I’m still a student without a place to call my own nor a steady job as I’m doing my postgraduate cert. I really miss the events at home that I would normally attend. And friends and family, everyone from Swing to Sean, Dai, Jun, Dei and Reno. Mum and dad. Sis too(I guess) :P

However, it gives a moment for pause as now is the chance for me to get down and really think of what I want to do for the future and where I would be in that future. For the next few years. But I still haven’t gotten around to that and it’s rather worrying.

That said, I’m happy that my dad’s given me a chance to do a postgraduate Masters in the subject of my choice. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance which I do not regret taking up. I only wish the workload was lighter but we can’t have everything, can we?

Quick round-up of what’s coming in the next month or so(plus a few things over the last two months) :

1. WGW(Whitby Goth Weekend) in Whitby.

2. Work on several films as a still photographer.

3. Dinner gathering on Day #1 of Chinese New Year.

4. SHUCon (an unmitigated disaster with the list of attendees)
