Photography Revisited

by aoshi_88 on Saturday, November 29th, 2008

I happened to take a look at the GACC photographs and it was the first time i ever actually got to hold a DSLR. Looking back, it’s coming to a year ever since i picked up an interest in DSLRs at GACC08 which then drove me to ask my cousin if he had a DSLR to spare that i could practice on.

To which i now have his Olympus E-500 and some other photography accessories i have acquired on my own.

I’m not going to rant and i’m not going to go all fanboy. But i’m bloody tired after 3 days due to the lack of sleep at night and i still have to do my article in Shrine.

So stay tuned for further information. Shrine will be updated in by a day or so once i’ve compiled Alicia’s and my photographs.

I’ll say this though… ANIKI SAIKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! MAY’N KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!

May’n Interview?

by aoshi_88 on Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

I just received an email earlier from Florence Ang of Red Dawn Communications. They are responsible for Anime Fest Asia 2008 and i am attending the press conference on Friday.

Dear James,

It’s Anime Festival Asia this weekend!

On behalf of I-Promo and Dentsu Singapore, we would like to invite you to join us for the ANIME FESTIVAL ASIA 08 PRESS CONFERENCE this Friday, 21 Nov at Suntec Singapore (Hall 404), 3.00pm sharp. Media registration will start from 2.30pm onwards.

We will have interview opportunities with J-Pop superstars May’n and Ichirou Mizuki, Kunio Okawara (mechanical designer for Gundam), Director Koji Morimoto from Studio 4°C, and Yasufumi Soejima, Animation Director in charge of Storyboard Art for Animax Asia Project “LaMB.”.

Media Accreditation will allow access into AFA08 and VIP access to concert performances.

Some of the more private details of the mail have been removed but the gist of it is above.

If you have any questions that you’ll like to put forward to May’n, do let me know and i’ll try my best to include them in the interview i am planning to ask for. Leave a comment here or email me at aoshi[at]hotmail.com. Do use an appropriate email title when you mail me as i have a low tolerance for spam.

A very interesting find…

by aoshi_88 on Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Credits to Lurker from Lowyat Forums. He’s made a thread about two war photographers here.

First war journalist/photograher in the documentary is a man named Zoriah. Here is an excerpt from his blog.

A documentary film crew followed me during my most recent project in Gaza and the West Bank, filming an episode of a new television show for the Warner Brothers and CBS network (CW) called “In Harm’s Way,” which features individuals who do dangerous jobs in order to better society.

For me it was an opportunity to bring stories from the Middle East to a wider audience, as this show will likely reach a very different group of people than those who normally pay attention to such events. We spent two weeks shooting in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank and had a few very close calls including one of the members of the crew being shot during a demonstration (more info on this in my next post.) It was a personal challenge to try to work with a large film crew by my side, as it is quite counter-intuitive, not to mention dangerous, for a photojournalist who wants nothing more than to remain unseen.

I hope that the show is able to educate a few people and prompt them to search out more answers on the subject covered.

Maria + Holic, Marimite Season 4 and Birdy Might Decode: D are most definitely in my watchlist. Another PMC related anime will also be released this coming season, called Vipers’ Creed. We seem to be getting a lot of that now don’t we?

Akikan and Chrome Shelled Regios are also in my attention list. Afro Samurai RESSURECTION should be good. I mean, it’s SAMUEL L JACKSON DAMMIT! I’d still hit that even if he isn’t in the anime.
