I HAS EATED IT!
I’ve generated some really unhealthly stuff about me lately due to my post about the London MCM Expo.
I sincerely and humbly apologize for what I’ve written as it came off as being judgemental and bigoted.
Also, talking to a friend who was also at the Expo, I came along as pre-judging the event before-hand and I didn’t quite explain it quite well what i meant when i replied to the comments in the first MCM Expo entry.
I will not however, deny that IF it was a purely cosplay event, on so many levels, it wouldn’t be comparable to events in the US or Asia.
However, I made no specific mention of the other segments of the event, such as the panels and sci-fi, author/artists’ signings etc. My intention of going to the Expo was for the cosplay and cosplay only. While I have already admitted in that post and subsequent comment replies that the culture of cosplay is fundamentally different, I won’t deny that I had fun(more so than at most local cons in my own country) .
So please don’t take my views as a view of the Expo in the overall. My criticisms are with the cosplay segment and the cosplay SEGMENT ONLY.
More photos added… please see below.
The opinion and article prior to the removal of the post are my own and no one else’s.
I cannot help it if you feel insulted and betrayed/angry at what I’ve written but as a person, I do not share the same opinion as everyone else and neither does everyone else always have the same opinion as i do.
However, in the interests of generating less controversy and insults at the cost of being labelled *insert here* for removing what I’ve said and done and in particular at which i don’t have the time to refute constantly, the post has been cleaned and all that remains are the photos.
For those who have responded kindly and have taken what I’ve said in jest, thank you. It’s not often that people are willing to admit that they did “so-and-so” cosplay for a lark.
For those of you who have taken insults from the blog post, try to understand the issue from my viewpoint. It’s not all roses and green grass. Sooner or later someone would’ve said something similar to what I did and I happened to be the first.
The views I’ve expressed here are my own personal feelings and i do not express those feelings in a professional manner when i write a proper event review/article on other sites.
On an interesting note: http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/08/24/malaysia-cosplay-gacc-2009/
I know I’m as late as everyone else(HAH!) but here’s my watch-list for 2009.
1. Armed Librarians: Book of Bantorra
Long story short, it’s an anime about librarians with weapons, saving humans who are called ‘Meats’ and something Illuminati-ish related to True Man(I can’t think of another organization/cult which fits) etc etc.
Man supposed to find this woman, who happens to be director of the Library, kill her with the bomb in this body.
I’m in it for the boobs and bunnies.
Had dinner last night at Flat 36. We were invited over to partake in some really good Chinese food cooked by the resident chef, Wan Bing @ Jack.
Mushroom wrapped in bacon, pork belly stew, ribs, noodles, rice, eggs with prawns.
Delicious!
