LOVE LOVE! SPREAD THE LOVE! MAKE YAOI, NOT WAR!

No srsly, please do.

As some of you may have noticed, there has been stirring lately in the anime community after KOSMO!’s article in May on Premis komik gay di pusat beli-belah terkenal diserbu. Translated into English, “Raid on outlets selling gay comics in popular shopping complex“.

I like ‘em strong, I like ‘em hard. But I DO NOT LIKE THEM YAOI! (Closest image i have to yaoi)

Now KOSMO! themselves aren’t any strangers to controversy including a previous clash with the anime/manga community here in Malaysia. If you remember, they once carried an article on about a raid being conducted in Lowyat Plaza last year. In the said article, KOSMO! equated anime to hentai( or anime porn) as we know it.

A somewhat BL anime with trap-looking males and large breasts in it

The reactions themselves last year after the article reached a point where it almost turned hysterical. Fears of a backlash from the government regulators and anger and irritation at the inaccuracy got to a point where it even involved a STAR reporter who also happens to have an interest in manga. I do admit there was overreaction on my part too, i did get in touch with the said journalist. *blush*

However, i’ve learnt from my mistakes this time. Going to be a more mature about it. For related materiel on KOSMO!’s latest blunder, you can try the link provided below.

Do note that yaoi is pretty much a girl’s kingdom/girls territory at the moment. While guys like us, well, normal otakus like us, lean towards yuri.

Tambah Faizal, bahan bacaan ini tidak sepatutnya dijual di premis berkenaan atau di mana sahaja kerana ia boleh mempengaruhi golo- ngan muda dalam aktiviti yang tidak bermoral.

Do note that as i said earlier, yaoi is still pretty much uncharted territory for male otakus though we do encounter it from time to time. And though there are those who may have interest in it at the beginning, most would’ve dropped it after a quick-scan through it anyway. So i don’t see the need to fear that reading a yaoi manga would cause a man to drop his pants and poke another person of the same sex in the face with his tallywhacker.

I’m not going to desecrate this blog with yaoi, so it’s hands off the harder stuff for me. Setsuna had a brain meltdown and well… i’m going to start questioning Shin’s sexual preferences real soon.

But what i take offence at is the fact that the article states it will lead to moral corruption. Society doesn’t need moral guardians, what society needs is good governance by the government to lead the nation. So get out of your trenches and bunkers and lead the nation!
