Upgrade to Windows 7
Yeah… I bit the bullet, paid the money, squeezed my eyes shut and upgraded to Windows 7 which is happily running as I type this entry up.
First look at it… it actually looks niftier if not a lot smarter than Vista and definitely better than how XP would ever look. As a friend put it, “This is how an OS should look like”. Putting a status update on Facebaww has gotten me messages from, “Welcome to the club” and “/snorts at Windows” to “Now all you need is NO CLIPPING mode!”.
*More after the jump*
Very funny guys.
The fact of the matter is… the more I look at it, the more I love it. Granted, some features I was so used to having, as in Vista with the folder organization on the left isn’t there, it’s now called Library. Nor is the fact that the Taskbar actually looks much, much better.
Paint itself has been given a new make-over. The one nagging issue I’ve always had with Paint was when it came to resizing images. Not anymore! I can now resize according to the pixels and I don’t have to run Photoshop every time I want an image resized.
The new Peek function is a nice touch though I don’t think I’ll be making full use of it. I didn’t even make full use of the 3D tab-switching in Vista either.
Notwithstanding the amount of time it took me to reconfigure EVERYTHING AGAIN as I saw fit, that reformat of Vista last week notwithstanding, and forgetting to backup my bookmarks yet again, it’s been smooth sailing. Installation of Win7 is actually easier than that of Vista and it runs smoother.
This is the current desktop layout I’m using.
Until next time… Aoshi out! Excuse while I continue to drool at the OS for the rest of the night.
